Getting ready to deliver your baby is a crazy and hectic time. Don’t know what to pack in hospital bag? Read this hospital bag checklist and watch this video below for more ideas!

Having a hospital bag checklist will make your delivery much easier. One thing I wish I had brought with me are some cute newborn outfits! You’ll cherish those newborn photos so much that you might as well dress your baby in some cute outfits. My poor twins were in those shirts the hospital gives you. Not cute, but they were functional. With baby #3, I am already shopping for newborn outfits.

The hospital provides a lot of supplies, so there is no need to pack your entire house and bring it with you. Create your own hospital bag checklist and you’ll be good to go!

Hospital Bag Checklist For New Moms:

Remember to pack for at least 4 days- just in case.

  • Hospital gown. You can bring your own. You may only wear it once, but image your cute photos wearing it
  • Nursing bra. Make sure it’s stretchy so you can pull it down to breastfeed or give your engorged breasts some air
  • Don’t bother bringing your own underwear. The hospital provides you with disposable ones. You’ll love them!
  • Bring disposable flip flops for the shower
  • Comfy slippers. It gets cold!
  • Comfy sweatpants or yoga pants. Something stretchy!
  • At least 2 sweatshirts
  • A light robe
  • 2 pairs of pjs
  • Nipple pads
  • Emery boards for baby nails
  • Baby mittens for those newborns that scratch their face (that was my son)
  • Wipes, my hospital didn’t offer any wipes for the baby
  • Cute newborn outfits

Partner Checklist:

  • Have your partner bring a few sweaters. You’ll be sweaty from the hormones leaving your body, but your partner will be freezing!
  • You may want to have your partner bring a pillow or extra blanket. My poor husband froze all night on his cot.

Going Home:

  • Towel for showering
  • Toiletry bag – shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant etc.
  • A comfy going home outfit, like a dress or loose pants. Something easy to breastfeed in.
  • 3 breastfeed friendly tanktops.
  • Any makeup that you want
