Baked Pears Perfect For Dinner Parties
These baked pears are super easy to make and add a level of sophistication to any dinner party menu. I’ve made these with Pinto Grio before and the alcohol cooks off while reducing the sauce. You can also use a grape juice. I always try to cook with wine I would drink.
For this recipe, the best pears to use are bosc pears. They hold up the best when baking.
I love to find ways to make fruits the main dessert option. Normally, I try to avoid adding sugar, but I haven’t tested this recipe enough to figure out how to make it sweeter without the added sugar.
- 4 pears, peeled and pitted
- 2 tbsp coconut oil
- 1/2 cup dried apricots, chopped
- 1/2 cup grape juice or white wine
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 cup sugar
-
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
-
Cut the pears in half and core the pits. Best pairs to use are Bosc.
-
In a large cast iron skillet (or a skillet that can be transferred to an oven) heat the coconut oil.
-
Place the pear halves pit side down in the heated pan and cook for 5-7 minutes, until they have slightly browned.
-
Place skillet in the oven and bake for 15 minutes, flipping in between.
-
Remove from the oven after 30 minutes. Take the pears out of the pan.
-
Once removed, pour your juice or wine in the skillet slowly. Place your dried apricots into the skillet and cook in the wine. About 2 minutes. Add the cinnamon and mix well. Then add the sugar. Stir to combine and cook until liquid reduces into a nice sticky concoction.
-
Cut your pears in quarters or leave them in halves. Top with apricot mixture. Serve warm and enjoy!
Best pairs to use are Bosc pears.
